Cyos stands for
Coach Your Own Self

Hi, I am Minh,

I am a solopreneur and a certified life coach with product and engineering background.

Let me share with you the What, the Why and the How behind Cyos.

Minh - Founder of Cyos

What is Cyos?

Cyos is a system that helps you think, act, and make progress in life.
Especially when you carry a burning question, a strong desire, or an unspoken fear.

It's quite easy to drift through life, not thinking about these, in favor of quick dopamine shots from non-productive means like food, social-media or entertainment.

Even productive work, or responsibilities, like self-help content, or to-do tasks, can distract you from what is truly important.

If what you are spending your time on isn't helping you

  • Answer your big life questions
  • Get you closer to your vision
  • Steer you away from a future you don't want to end up in

I hope Cyos can help you change that by being the tool for you to:

Track who you are as a human

A healthy and fit person. A reader. A learner. A mindful person. A builder. An artist. A parent. A financially responsible adult.

Ask yourself important, hard questions

What are your biggest needs? Who are you becoming? What are holding you back? Where can you feel seen and belonged? How can you be confident and excited about the future?

Coach yourself into progress everyday

Replace instant dopamine shots from external worlds with potential rewards of actions your future-self will appreciate.

Why do I build Cyos?

I built Cyos from my own problems and experiences.

The problem of life tracking

I started consciously working on my life by losing 25kg in 6 months. It's the first time I felt success that came entirely from my intention and consistent actions.

Then the work expanded to all life areas during Covid time, when the self-help trend picked up everywhere. Reading more books, learning to play the piano, investing, eating healthier.

I needed a tracking system for each of them, to see clearly my status, to build my habits, and to keep myself accountable.

I was never fully satisfied with the tools out there for a few reasons:

  • It was troublesome to find (and sometimes pay for) the best app for each tracking need.
  • It was inconvenient to track many things manually.
  • There was always something that was not customizable enough.

In addition, I want to learn about myself from my own data, a holistic view of myself, and how different areas of my life interact.

It's beyond just knowledge about individual data that you can find out easily nowadays, such as my body fat, or how much I have in the bank.

So I built Cyos to solve these. A personal dashboard where you can track anything. With AI and automation to reduce the input friction, and give you insights from your data.

The problem of coaching

As a certified life coach and an engineer, I believe in the idea that asking the right question can solve 50% of any problem you face.

I also believe in principles and thinking frameworks. They make the vague idea of asking the right question become concrete.

For example, at a very high level, every problem can be described as:

  • What: The actors and the systems involved.
  • Why: The ones with unmet needs.
  • How: The constraints, the bottleneck and the strategies.

If the problem is oneself's growth, we can translate them into familiar questions:

  • What: Who do you want to be? Which life do you want to live? Where are you right now?
  • Why: Which of your needs are being met? Are you really addressing your own needs?
  • How: Are your environment and people supportive? How much time do you have? What can you control?

If I don't ask these questions to myself often, it's very easy to spend another day just showing up to my responsibilities, and numbing myself with those quick dopamine shots.

When I do think about these questions, then sometimes there is the need of talking it out to someone. To feel the support, to learn from the feedback, and to gain the clarity.
But it's hard to ask anyone to always be mentally available for you to go deep.

Chat GPT (or any other LLMs) helps. But they are designed to give you answers, not to ask you important questions, like a coach.

So I built Cyos to solve these. An intelligence that uses coaching principles and thinking frameworks to think with you, about your life questions.

The mission statement

Cyos's mission is to help you turn your thoughts into actions your future-self will appreciate.

I didn't start building Cyos with this statement clearly in mind.

In fact, I struggled with the mission statement for a while, because I was simply building for the fragmented problems I faced while working on myself.
And I kept wondering: will people really use it, with so many distractions and attention-grabbing things everywhere.

Then I asked myself: what could compete with the instant gratification of consumerism, of social-media, of entertainment, or even addiction.
The only answer I could think of was a deeper dopamine dose from visualizing your desired future.

I realized it's always been how I try to operate.
To take one uncomfortable action now, hoping it will lead to a better future.

How can Cyos achieve its goals?

Addressing the tracking problem

Cyos is built like a personal database, but one that's flexible, intelligent, and human-friendly.

Its fundamentals are

  • A diverse range of data types, from basic ones like number or text, to abstract ones like learnings or social interactions
  • A flexible charting system to draw meaning from data
  • A unified goal system that lets you set goals from anything you track

Most importantly, Cyos focuses on reducing the friction of input by

  • Integrating with existing sources like Apple Health / Google Fit or Calendar
  • Using AI to turn unstructured input, like an image of your health report, or your meal, into structured, trackable data

As AI and AR evolve, tracking will become more seamless and automatic.

And when that happens, your personal database, paired with intelligent coaching, becomes incredibly accessible and powerful.

Cyos is building for that future.

Addressing the coaching problem

Cyos isn't here to do things for you.

It's not another AI assistant for productivity or search.

Instead, the intelligence has 3 goals

  • Ask you hard questions
  • Surface insights about you, from your words and data
  • Support your agency, whatever you need to start acting (courage, motivation or acceptance)

With these, you are the one answering your own questions, setting up your own intention, and acting in the way that serves you.

If you look for direct answers, you already have all the LLMs and the internet for that.

If you need a thinking partner, Cyos is here to help.

Looking forward

Life changes won't happen in isolation. AI will just make human connection become more precious.

In the future, Cyos hopes to connect you with real people that can provide you with support much better than any AI system

  • People that share the same goals and life stages, even if the goals are niche or personal.
  • Real coaches that can better understand your life journey, your identity, and your situation, through meaningful data.
  • Scientists and researchers exploring the same questions as yours, where your patterns could help uncover insights for others like you.

If you find what I share interesting, or you want to discuss about some life questions, or you are passionate about the same thing, I am happy to connect.
